On a beautiful summer weekend, there’s nothing better than finding fun activities to do outdoors with your family or friends, or even by yourself! Luckily, Lake County is rich in resources, with a variety of activities you can take part in every weekend. Be sure to check out the upcoming events on Motivate Lake County, your city’s website or calendar, or hit up a search engine for whatever activity you’re looking for, and you’ll be sure to find something new and fun to do!
To make it easy, here is our guide to five of our favorite weekend activities in Lake County:
- Visit a Farmers Market
Lake County is home to many farmers markets during the summer months, where you can find local fresh produce and other goods from local vendors. Not sure where to find the farmers market in your area? Check out our guide here! - Check out the Lake Metroparks
The Lake Metroparks offers a variety of different activities to fit any interest! Get family or friends together – or head out solo – and go for a walk or bike ride or find a new hiking trail; get a group together for a game of pickup sand volleyball; enjoy the lakefront; or check out the events page for events from concerts to wine tastings to triathlons. There’s no shortage of ways to explore, so visit their website and make your plans today! - Go (Mini) Golfing
Reserve a tee time and get a foursome together to play 9 or 18 holes at any one of Lake County’s many golf courses. No clubs? No problem! Head out to a mini golf course and putt putt your way to victory, or challenge yourself to disc golf. Who knew there were so many ways to golf? - Visit the Holden Arboretum
Explore the Holden Arboretum’s many trails and gardens to spend your weekend reconnecting with nature, and don’t forget to visit its iconic attractions – the Murch Canopy Walk and Kalberer Emergent Tower – to enjoy the view from new heights. There is a cost associated, so be sure to buy tickets, or snag a membership and enjoy special access on members-only Mondays! - Cheer on Your Hometown Team
Summertime and baseball games go hand-in-hand. Grab a hotdog and a cold beverage and watch the boys of summer play ball at Classic Park. Need tickets? Visit the Lake County Captains website for schedules, tickets, and more info.
